Knowledge Exchange conference - an insight into project debates

Earlier in July, I organised a major conference at the University of Southampton (with assistance from Harriett Webster) on the theme of 'Knowledge Exchange and Arts and Humanities Research'. The event explored new approaches to academic research, and the ways in which knowledge exchange, creative collaborations and partnerships outside academia can transform our research. Harriett gave a paper on the 'City Witness' project so far, which emphasised the importance fo our partnerships and collaborations - with GGAT, Swansea Museum and the City Council - and which also offered insights into the challenges of our research.

Harriett's presentation also sparked some debate about how we should go about reconstructing or depicting the past, and the dangers of (as my colleague John McGavin put it) the 'Harry Potter' school of 3D visualisation... This is a conversation we'll be having on this Blog over the next few weeks.
