Thomas de Cantilupe on BBC Radio Four...

The 'Sunday Worship' programme on Radio Four on Sunday 20 October came from Hereford Cathedral [available on iPlayer until Sunday 27 October]. Titled 'A Glorious Kingdom' it explored the saints of Hereford through music and words, looking at the stories of the Anglo-Saxon king Aethelbert, Thomas Traherne - and Thomas de Cantilupe. St Thomas, of course, was the saint who restored William Cragh to life - although the papal commissioners decided in the end that this particular case didn't constitute a miracle and it was left out of the final document which was the basis for Thomas's canonisation. It was a particular pleasure to hear the Hereford Cathedral Choir singing a medieval plainsong chant honouring St Thomas - a real link back to the world which produced MS Vat. Lat. 4015 and in which our 'hanged man' story took place.
