Meeting with GGAT
As well as the meeting with Swansea Council (see Catherine's post), Keith and I had a meeting with Neil Maylan and Charina Jones of Gwent and Glamorgan Archaeological Trust.
Neil and Charina have been providing the project with the archaeological evidence from Swansea and also providing invaluable insights into the current understanding of how the town has developed. The meeting with Neil and Charina discussed the pavement markers and allowed Keith and I to show how we have been incorporating the archaeological data into the GIS. This led to some interesting and productive discussion on how, as we can now overlay archaeology with historic mapping, this allows us to explore new ways of seeing how medieval Swansea is understood. The collaboration with GGAT is an important part of the project, and without Neil and Charina, understanding the archaeology of Swansea would be a lot harder!
